Burgoyne Valley Community Gardens

Located in Salt Spring Island’s Burgoyne Valley, at 2232 Fulford-Ganges Rd, the Community Gardens and the Burgoyne Valley Community Farm are projects of the Salt Spring Island Farmland Trust.

For an annual fee, the community garden plots offer Salt Spring Island residents an opportunity to grow food for their families and increase food security. The gardens are managed by volunteers and are maintained through work parties and gardener help. If you'd like to volunteer, please email communitygardens@ssifarmlandtrust.org

There are 90 plots currently offered. Gardeners can share plots, though because of demand we limit assignment to one plot per household. Adjacent to and separate from the garden plots, larger tracts of land are rented to island farmers. All growers must follow organic principles and help maintain healthy soil. At the entry to the gardens, a gazebo provides a place to rest in the shade or enjoy a meal of your freshly picked produce.

In addition to growing space, gardeners receive the Community Gardener Newsletter offering growing tips, news, and details about workshops and general garden workdays. Garden news is also posted on the Sign Boards attached to the gates. You are free to tour the gardens using the designated pathways. Do not walk in other’s plots nor on the leased farmland, and leave no garbage.

To inquire if there are plots available, please email communitygardens@ssifarmlandtrust.org
