The Burgoyne Valley Community Farm
Located on some of the island's best agricultural land, this 60 acre farm allows the Farmlands Trust Society to fulfill many of our goals towards increased food security on Salt Spring Island.
The Farmland Trust Board, in collaboration with farmers, families and other organizations, is bringing the farm into its full potential to produce food, increase biodiversity and pollination, and protect species and waterways for the long-term benefit of the community. Organic practices are a high priority and a large year-round pond provides water for the entire farm.
This multi-faceted property is the home of many inspiring projects:
Four farm businesses: Hogwild Farms, Sandhill Botanicals, Heavenly Roots Farm, Night Owl Farm
Salt Spring Island Community Services' Harvest Farm programs
70 families have the use of 1000 sqft Community Garden plots
The future site of the Community Composter
To expand our ability to connect farmers with good land, provide community garden plots and improve our island's soils through community composting, please consider supporting our work through donations in-kind, by volunteering your time, or with a contribution of funds. We give thanks to the generous support of individuals, businesses and other non-profit organizations who have given their time and resources. Thank you!
