You are invited to the second FLT Local Food Share Event hosted by Grow Local at The Root, 189 Beddis Road. An FLT Knowledge Series Initiative.
1 - 3 PM Local Food Workshop (Processing and Preserving Zucchinis & Cucumbers)
3 - 5 PM Local Food Share Gatherings
"Bring What You Have, Take What You Need"
Weekly gatherings happen every Sunday through October 15 at The Root, where the local food community comes together to share and swap food they have harvested, build stronger relationships, learn skills and gain knowledge related to local food growing, harvesting, and processing.
Gardeners place what they have brought on tables with labels. Each participant shares a short description to introduce what they are offering, then the group browses the selection taking what they want or need. Any food left over after the sharing is either donated to Community Services or processed in the kitchen.
This week Nick and Polly will be leading a workshop on processing and preserving freshly picked zucchinis and cucumbers kindly donated from Harvest Farm, an SSI Community Services acreage at FLT's Burgoyne Valley Community Farm.
Everyone is welcome to learn, connect, and share!
