The Emerald Edge: Where Regenerative Communities Meet

Jul 21
2 min read

On Sunday, August 2, DWeb Camp Cascadia comes to Salt Spring Island, bringing together people from across the bioregion who are exploring decentralized technologies, community resilience, open-source culture, and new ways of organizing ourselves.

Discover hat happens when regenerative farmers, open-source technologists, artists, makers, systems thinkers, climate optimists, and community builders begin imagining together!

As part of the day's focus on food systems, regenerative agriculture, and technology, the Farmland Trust's Andrea Palframan is delighted to be hosting The Emerald Edge—a playful, participatory session designed to spark friendships and collaborations between the DWeb community and the people of Salt Spring who spend their days working with soil, seeds, food systems, fabrication, ecological restoration, and local resilience.

Rather than presentations, this is a living laboratory for cross-pollination.

This playful session is designed to spark friendship and collabs between the DWeb community and island people who spend their days working with soil, seeds, food systems, fabrication, and local resilience. We'll use a series of short, facilitated conversations and creative prompts to connect people across disciplines, discover shared challenges, and dive into projects that can get salted/peppered from out of the wisdom + experience of the collective. A good chance for Dwebbers to catch a glimpse of what’s happening on Salt Spring’s emerald edge, and for SSI-ers to connect with Cascadian + bioregional currents.

If you are into sharing ideas, provocations, wild wishes, and practical challenges.... come to The Emerald Edge; Sunday, August 211:00 am – 12:30 pm Salt Spring Island Farmers' Institute.

The session follows a 10:00 am panel on regenerative and home-scale agriculture, and local day passes are available for anyone who wants to spend the day at camp.

The future won't be built by any one community alone. It will emerge where different ways of knowing meet. RSVP to info@ssifarmlandtrust.org... let us know if you want to attend the session, or the whole day & we'll send you the registration link/code.

Come join us at the edge!
